About

The Deutscher Kunstverlag is one of the leading publishers in the art book sector with offices in Berlin and Munich. With our books, we convey well-founded content on a broad range of topics from the fields of art, art history, architecture, monument preservation, photography, arts and crafts, and design.

In 2021, we celebrated our 100th anniversary. A variety of activities took place to mark the anniversary. The website on the history of Deutscher Kunstverlag offers insights into publications and working contexts as well as the people and places that have shaped the company over a century.

As a renowned traditional publishing house, we have stood for outstanding quality in terms of both content and design since 1921 and offer a remarkable variety of exhibition and inventory catalogs, art and museum guides, illustrated books, standard works on art history, monographs, series, and professional journals.

In close dialog with authors, museums, foundations and institutions, we develop innovative and attractive publications: From conception and design to editing, translation, production, and distribution of the finished book. Our backlist consists of around 800 available titles in German and other languages. In addition, we expand our program by about 70 new publications each year.

Since 2018, we have been strengthening the existing art studies program of De Gruyter Publishers, working hand in hand with its production and distribution, and in turn benefiting from its expanded technical and distribution capabilities.
