NEW: In the podcast with Dr. Martina Padberg about ‘Tina Blau’

You can also listen to this podcast on Apple Podcasts.

In our twenty-fourth episode, we visit the Kunstmuseum Ahlen, where the exhibition “Im Freien. Tina Blau – Eine Impressionistin aus Wien” is on view until 1 November 2026.

Kevin Schneider from Deutscher Kunstverlag talks about the exhibition with Martina Padberg, Director of the Kunstmuseum Ahlen, and Steffen Egle, Director of the Museum Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern.

The podcast explores questions such as: Why is Tina Blau regarded as a pioneer of Impressionism yet remains largely unknown? How did she develop her own Impressionist style independently of Monet, Renoir and Degas? How did she assert herself in the male-dominated art world of the nineteenth century? And what makes her landscape paintings so exceptional to this day?

In cooperation with the Museum Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern, the Kunstmuseum Ahlen is presenting the first museum exhibition of Tina Blau’s work in Germany. It offers an opportunity to discover an artist who forged an extraordinary path in her time, using her expertise and self-confidence to succeed in a field that was particularly challenging for women.
