Festival de l’Histoire de l’Art 2025 | Book fair

As one of the premier cultural events of the summer in France, the festival takes place every year on the first weekend in June in Fontainebleau. With more than 200 program items—including conferences, panel discussions, film screenings, exhibitions, a book and art magazine fair, student and professional meetups, guided tours, children’s workshops, and concerts—it offers a multifaceted panorama of the visual arts across all periods.

For three days, experts, students, and art enthusiasts come together in the unique atmosphere of Fontainebleau Castle to discuss current developments and research in art history.

This year’s guest country is Austria, and the theme is “Le vrai, les faux” (the true, the false).

Deutscher Kunstverlag will be present at the book fair with a stand featuring exciting new releases and relevant publications, all covering a wide range of perspectives on art.
