04/12/2025 – 11/23/2025
Neues Museum, Berlin
The 24-part painting ‘The Given Day’ by Michael Müller elaborates on the Greek myth of the twins Castor and Pollux, the Dioscuri, which has received little attention from art history or philology and philosophy to date.
The Neues Museum in Berlin is now showing the monumental work in its staircase hall. This special exhibition offers a dialogue on the meaning of time, mortality and the connection between past and present. Contemporary art meets historical space, refers to ancient models and offers a modern adaptation of the classical reception of the myth of the Dioscuri, who walk eternally between death and life.
