The fourth volume of the writings of the Freundeskreis Max Klinger e. V., an association dedicated to the artist, pursues numerous aspects of his oeuvre by means of the most recent research findings: Both his own freely chosen projects, as well as works that were commissioned from him but not carried out, are particularly introduced in this context. Max Klinger’s influence on artists like Paul Klee also belong to the thematic main emphases. Klinger’s work continues to make an impact up to the present day, for example in the case of the controversial monument bust of Richard Wagner in Leipzig.
