After nearly ten years, Michael Belhadi and Michel Ptasinski’s unusual idea to photographically capture the atmosphere of German correctional facilities has finally become a reality. The large-format illustrated book features highly expressive architectural photographs of twelve prisons, including Berlin-Moabit, Düsseldorf, Geldern and Stuttgart-Stammheim.
The view behind high prison walls addresses prejudices, while increasing awareness and a sense of responsibility during the design of the facilities, making an important contribution to the sociological and architectural historical discussion.
