<P>Anlässlich des 100-jährigen Jubiläums des Deutschen Kunstverlags fand ein Wettbewerb für Student/-innen der Universität der Künste Berlin statt. Die Studierenden sollten sich mit der Zukunft des Buches als gedrucktem Medium auseinandersetzen. Die ausgewählten spannenden Werke - darunter Videoarbeiten, Installationen, Buch-Objekte - wurden in einer Ausstellung in der Kommunalen Galerie präsentiert. Der Katalog dokumentiert die Ergebnisse, stellt die Künstler/-innen und ihre Arbeiten vor und zeigt Bilder der Ausstellung. Ergänzt wird die Präsentation durch ein Vorwort der Verlagsleiterin Katja Richter, ein Grußwort des Jury-Mitglieds Jörg Heiser und einen Essay von Ilka Backmeister-Collacott, die in einer Liebeserklärung an das gedruckte Buch auf die Bedeutung des Printmediums auch im Zeitalter der Technik hinweist. </P>

<P>In conjunction with the 100-year anniversary of the Deutscher Kunstverlag, students at the Berlin University of the Arts took part in a competition. The aim was to examine the future of books as a print medium. The fascinating works selected—including video works, installations, and book-objects—were presented in an exhibition at municipal galleries. The catalogue documents the results, presents the artists and their works, and shows pictures of the exhibition. The presentation is supplemented by a foreword by the director of the publishing house, Katja Richter, welcoming remarks by the jury member Jörg Heiser, and an essay by Ilka Backmeister-Collacott that emphasizes the importance of the print medium in the age of technology in a declaration of love to the printed book. </P>
