Costanza Caraffa, Director of the Photothek of the Kunst-historisches Institut in Florenz – Max Planck Institut (KHI), took advantage of the relocation of its famous collection to make the work of institutions and their photo archives the subject of an exhibition. To do this, she and her colleague Hannah Baader were able to draw on their long-standing collaboration with the German-Italian photographer, Armin Linke (*1966), who juxtaposed the historical photographs with some of his own. The result was an exhibition that shows Florence as a city of archives in a new light.
